What is Quarantine?
Quarantine is the project that enables Matthijs de Ridder to release his creativity. Normally a musician in the service of others, Matthijs uses Quarantine as his ‘secret laboratory’ where he can develop musical ideas of his own as well as write and perform music in a variety of styles ranging from jazz to pop. His musical influences are similarly diverse and include the likes of Miles Davis, Sting, The Roots and Pharrell Williams, in short, musicians and producers who have shown that they were not afraid to innovate.
Despite being still young, Matthijs has already played in a number of bands and theatrical projects such as musicals. He has recorded in several studios, resulting in demos as well as a cd and even a dvd. One of the studios he recorded in is Chris Becker's studio Beau's Garage.
This project constitutes a piece of Matthijs de Ridder’s professional career that is wholly his own, and which he also strives to maintain. He chose the name Quarantine to reflect this.
